It is approximatley five miles long and up to three miles wide consisting of 4000 acres, 20 miles of water frontage and approximately 1900 acres of marshlands. Residential and commercial are integrated with public parks and paths for walking, jogging and cycling. The commercial area is home to a Publix Food Store, bank, gas station, medical center, church and other businesses and services. Daniel Island is also home to Bishop England High School, Blackbaud Soccer Stadium and the Family Circle Cup Tennis Center.

Daniel Island Park is one of the newer neighborhoods found on Daniel Island. It is located on 1500 acres in the northern section of the Island and is home to the fabulous Tom Fazio designed golf course and the private Daniel Island Club. Residents of Daniel Island Park automatically become "Park" members of the Daniel Island Club, with access to the swim and tennis facilities of the Park Club as well as the social and dining facilities of the golf club house. Residents have the opportunity to become Golf members of the club.
