The Old Village of Mt. Pleasant is located just across the Ravenel Bridge from the Charleston Historic District. The Old Village is unique in that it is the one area in Charleston where you feel that you are in a New England town with it's historic old homes, tree lined streets and friendly neighbors walking, jogging and riding bikes throughout the neighborhood. There are strict architectural controls covering homes located within the historic district of the Old Village. Town approval is required for any additions or exterior improvments made to any building in the designated historic section of the town.
A cruise ship can be seen docked off of East Bay Street in Historic Charleston from one of the side streets in the Old Village. Some of the many private docks can be seen in the foreground which lead to historic as well as more modern day homes overlooking Charleston Harbor.
Above is a Google map of the Old Village showing many of the waterfront homes and docks.
