An Update On The Mt. Pleasant Waterfront Park
The Town of Mt. Pleasant waterfront park opened on Memorial Day week-end of 2009. The first phase started in February, 2009. This first phase included the area's longest pier of 1250 feet.. An 8 foot tall war memorial, a sweetgrass pavilion, visitors center and a playground will also be built. An artificial reef at the end of the pier attracts fish. Consideration is being given to running a sailing program from a floating dock near the end of the pier. However, because of the strong ebb tide at that location, safety issues need to be taken into consideration in deciding whether to proceed with this idea.
